🚒 Last Night’s Fire Response 🔥

Around 8:00 PM, Engine 22, Engine 53, Engine 52, Truck 5, and Battalion 2 were dispatched to a commercial structure fire. Engine 53 arrived on scene in under 3 minutes and found light smoke coming from the ventilation system. As crews approached the entrance, flames were visible through the window.

Fire was discovered in the kitchen area, with three fryers involved and the heaviest fire in the center unit. Engine 53 quickly gained access and used an ABC extinguisher to knock down the flames. Engine 52 secured the gas and power to the fryers, while Truck 5 set up ventilation to clear smoke and extinguisher residue.

🚨 Yesterday around 10:30 AM, Engine 53, Battalion Chief 2, Truck 5, Medic 61, and Rescue 2 were dispatched for what was initially reported as a medical emergency.

Upon arrival, crews discovered the call involved a motor vehicle accident with a tractor overturned along Hwy 45 Bypass. While EMS was assessing the patient, Engine 53 addressed a small hazmat situation caused by oil and diesel leaking into a ditch. Crews applied oil dry to control and contain the spill.

Fortunately, the patient declined transport and no further hazards were found. Once the scene was stabilized and cleared by law enforcement, Captain Justin Smith turned the moment into a valuable teaching opportunity—giving one of our new firefighters hands-on training in vehicle extrication procedures.

This incident highlights how even a routine dispatch can quickly evolve into a complex response requiring teamwork, safety, and learning in action. 💪👨‍🚒 #jacksontnfire #hazmat #traininginthefield #teamwork #engine53
